Santa’s Anonymous is a project that has been going on at CCH for a long time. Every year we help many families in need all over Lethbridge. We begin fundraising very early in the year with our pumpkin sale, as well as other fun activities and fundraisers throughout October, November and December. The 24 hour famine is coming up on the 21st of this month. There is still time to join the group so collect your envelope and start getting pledges! One of the most popular activities during the famine is creating the wrapping paper for the gifts we include in the Christmas hampers, and if that doesn’t interest you maybe you would enjoy sleeping over at the school. I know we had so much fun last year.
The pancake breakfasts ran today at Campus East and tomorrow it is at Campus West. The classroom coin drive is another fundraiser coming up, so keep your eyes out for that.
After all our fundraising is done, we start gathering food and toys for the families. Last year I had the opportunity to go shopping with a few other members and pick out toys that would be given to the kids on Christmas. I’ve helped to move and sort food then pack it all up into the packages the families would receive. I had so much fun working on this project with the rest of my friends who joined. It was a wonderful experience, and even at this time in the year we could always use some more motivated people to join in.
Unfortunately, I was unable to go out and deliver the packages with the group last year, so hopefully this year I’ll be able to experience that. If you’ve already joined this rewarding project, you’re thinking of joining, or maybe you would like to check things out for next year, we could always use your help In any of the activities or fundraisers. No matter how small, we always appreciate the help.
So to members of the past, the present and the future (including the staff), I would like to thank you to the contribution to this amazing and worthwhile project. We couldn’t do this without everyone!
